terms of use

Conditions for using SteamProfiler.

Website and APIs, Duo and Companion: what each service offers, your responsibilities and the rights you keep.

v1 · Revision effective date: · earlier versions · 6077954

1. Who provides these services

Scope. Gustavo Cruz maintains SteamProfiler as an independent project. These Terms of Service / Terms of Use cover steamprofiler.org and its hosted API, SteamProfiler Duo at duo.steamprofiler.org and its dedicated API, and SteamProfiler Companion. Valve does not operate, endorse or sponsor these services. Contact the maintainer through feedback or the relevant repository linked below.

2. Using the services

Your use. These terms describe the conditions for using the features offered. Read them before submitting content, signing in to Duo or enabling Companion. If you disagree, stop using those features; you may still read these terms and contact us. Where legally required, a parent or legal guardian must authorize and accompany use by a minor. Reading or using a service does not by itself grant consent to optional processing of personal data.

3. Public SteamProfiler website

Public data. The site reads publicly available Steam information and provides profile views, comparisons, estimates, game information and visual cards. No Steam login is required for public lookups. Private profiles, libraries or inventories are not unlocked. Looking up another public profile does not authorize harassment, impersonation or unlawful reuse of personal data. Prices, currency estimates, compatibility reports and calculated metrics may be incomplete or outdated; verify them at their source before purchasing or relying on them.

4. Hosted APIs and automation

APIs, scraping and shared capacity. Use the documented endpoints, respect rate limits, response instructions and access restrictions, and reuse cached results where appropriate. Do not evade blocks or quotas by rotating identities, addresses or sessions, exhaust the service with bulk requests, or access administrative or private endpoints without authorization. Automated collection and scraping must follow these rules and the access restrictions and published instructions for the requested route. Do not collect data to build personal dossiers, reidentify visitors, stalk people or reconstruct information made private. Contact the maintainer before proposing bulk collection beyond available limits. Integrations should handle unavailable data and temporary failures. The hosted APIs offer no uptime, permanent endpoint or support guarantee. The source-code license permits self-hosting under its own conditions; it does not grant unlimited access to our servers.

5. Duo accounts and projects

Personal studio. Duo authenticates through Steam; your Steam password stays with Steam. Protect your Steam account and sign out on shared devices. Sign-in does not provide access to private Steam data. Duo stores projects, chosen images and library observations separately from the public Profiler. Projects are private by default. Account-wide export and deletion are not yet available in the alpha; individual project deletion and sign-out are available. Contact the maintainer for account or data requests. This limitation does not remove your statutory rights. Keep exported copies of work you want to preserve: the alpha may change and storage is not an archival guarantee.

6. Duo public links and exports

Sharing is your choice. Enabling a public link lets anyone with it view the rendered composition, including the text, images and public Steam information you chose to display. The output may follow saved edits and explicit library synchronization. Revoking the link or deleting the project stops future access through that link; it cannot remove screenshots or files already saved by others. Inspect the output before sharing. Yearly reports start from actual Duo observations and do not reconstruct earlier Steam Replay history. Demo data and user-entered numbers are not verified Steam records.

7. Republishing profile images

Profile cards and images. You may share your own card or composition and images of other profiles when you have authorization or another lawful basis to do so. Public access to a profile or image does not remove privacy, likeness or copyright rights. Inspect names, avatars, identifiers and other information before republishing. Do not use cards or images to impersonate the owner, imply nonexistent endorsement, harass, engage in doxxing or disclose data for an unlawful purpose. Do not present edited values as verified Steam records. Sharing, downloading or embedding does not transfer rights to marks, avatars or game artwork. An image containing profile data may remain in external copies even after changes on Steam.

8. Removal and correction requests

How to request. If a hosted page, profile image or composition violates your rights, request review, removal or correction through feedback or the relevant repository's private security channel when sensitive information is involved. Provide the relevant URL or public identifier, describe the issue and provide a safe contact method. We may request only proportionate information needed to verify the request, never your Steam password or session token. Do not submit personal documents in public messages. We will assess the request under applicable law and, where appropriate, remove or restrict access within the service we control. Duo owners can also delete their project or revoke its public link. Making Steam data private prevents new readings of that data as provided by the source, but does not automatically erase cached responses, Duo observations or exported images. Requests to delete those records should identify the affected service. We cannot remove files from other people's devices or republications on third-party sites; contact the republisher about those copies as well. This limitation does not remove our legal obligations.

9. Companion extension

Optional browser features. Companion adds public game information and profile cards to supported Steam pages. The personal game panel is off by default and requires you to enable it; it uses a public SteamID and the current game. Do not enter someone else's SteamID while claiming to be them. You can disable features in settings or uninstall the extension. Steam page changes, browser restrictions or API outages may interrupt features. Companion does not buy games, perform trades, bypass Steam privacy settings or require Steam credentials. Its data handling is described in Companion Privacy.

10. Your content and others' rights

Ownership. You keep the rights you hold in your text and uploads. Submit only material you are authorized to use and disclose. You grant only the permission needed to store, process and render that content and display it to recipients when you enable sharing; this does not transfer ownership or authorize unrelated advertising or model training. Do not upload credentials, private documents, malware or unlawful content. Steam marks, game artwork and third-party assets remain their owners' property. An export does not grant a new license to third-party artwork. Generated compositions include a SteamProfiler signature; this is attribution, not a claim of ownership over your content.

11. Acceptable use

Respect people and systems. Do not use these services for threats, harassment, discrimination, sexual exploitation, doxxing (exposing or aggregating personal information to intimidate, locate or put someone at risk), exposure of private information, fraud, impersonation, spam, copyright infringement or other unlawful activity. Do not distribute malicious files, exploit vulnerabilities, interfere with other users' projects or attempt unauthorized access. Report suspected security issues privately through the relevant repository's security advisory channel, without publishing credentials or personal data. Ordinary criticism, bug reports and lawful experimentation are welcome.

12. Restrictions, reports and review

Proportionate action. We may limit requests, restrict access or remove shared content to address abuse, security incidents, rights violations or legal obligations. Reports should identify the relevant URL, describe the issue and provide a safe way to reply; do not repeat sensitive or unlawful material in a public issue. Use feedback for reports and review requests, or the appeal form when the public website shows a block. Where feasible and legally permitted, we will explain the reason and consider a correction or appeal. Immediate protective action may be necessary. These terms do not promise an automated account-suspension or appeal feature in Duo.

13. Privacy and third parties

Separate policies. The public website and its API follow the website privacy policy. Companion has its own privacy document, and Duo explains its current processing in the privacy dialog in its interface. The public website's retention descriptions do not describe Duo's saved account data. These terms do not expand processing permissions or replace any required consent. Steam, browser vendors, media providers and donation platforms apply their own terms when you use them. Links to external sites do not imply endorsement or transfer responsibility for their conduct to us.

14. Free access and voluntary support

Voluntary support. The features currently offered are free. A voluntary donation supports the project and does not purchase a subscription, priority, guaranteed uptime or ownership of Steam or game assets. Payment platforms and networks determine their processing conditions. Contact the maintainer about an erroneous contribution; any refund request remains subject to applicable law and the payment channel's capabilities. If paid features are introduced, their prices and specific conditions will be presented before purchase.

15. Availability and responsibility

Practical limits. Features may change or be interrupted for maintenance, capacity, security or changes at Steam and other sources. We do not promise uninterrupted operation, error-free results, recovery of every lost draft or suitability for a particular purpose. Use exports and verify source data where it matters. Any limitation applies only to the extent permitted by law: nothing excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, remedies for our own unlawful conduct, or mandatory consumer and data-protection rights.

16. Source code and components

Software licenses. These service terms do not replace or restrict the licenses distributed with source code. The public Front, API, Companion, Duo repositories and i18n use MIT. SteamProfiler UI and other reusable components follow the license shipped in their own repository. SteamProfiler Player is separately licensed under CPAL-1.0, including its attribution requirements. Fonts, game images and other third-party assets have their own notices. Check the license and notices of the version you reuse; operating a fork does not make it an official SteamProfiler service.

17. Changes and version history

Every revision stays available. Changes are published with a version, effective date, summary, full text, differences from the preceding revision and the Git commit that introduced the document, at the terms archive. Published revisions are preserved; corrections create a new revision. Material changes will be highlighted on the affected service before they apply where required by law. Changes do not retroactively authorize new uses of your content or data. A draft awaiting its Git commit is identified as such and is not a published revision.

18. Applicable law and contact

Your rights remain. Brazilian law applies, without removing mandatory protections in your place of residence. No exclusive foreign forum, compulsory arbitration or waiver of statutory rights is imposed. Disputes may be brought before the competent court under applicable law, including the consumer's domicile where provided. For questions, rights requests, reports or disputes, contact the maintainer. Do not include passwords, session tokens or private documents in public messages.
